Discipline Policy Check List

When a student is removed from class for discipline reasons:

Does the student have a written Referral?

  1. Yes - Give them and Office Reflection
    • Be sure they complete all parts
    • Call parents - No Exceptions! Write down the time and date of the parent call on the office reflection.
  2. No - Send them back to class. Do not allow students to be removed from class without a written Referral.

Paperwork and documentation:

Each time a student is removed from class you will need all of the following:

  • Written Referral from the teacher
  • Student writes an Office Reflection
  • Parent phone call and the date and time of the call written on the Office Reflection
  • When a student gets removed 3 times we need to have a parent conference

If the situation requires two or more students:

  1. Have each student write a Confidential Incident Report. Collect these reports in a file.
  2. Make all appropriate parent phone calls. Call parents when, student might be in danger, in trouble or has been involved in an unseemly event.

If the event requires mediation or student to student conversation:

  1. Have each student write a Confidential Incident Report. Collect these reports in a file.
  2. Write down the names of all students involved, the time of the meeting and a short list of the details and outcomes of the conversation.
  3. Make parent phone calls. Call parents to let them know there was a conversation, and any follow up details, such as agreements the students made and etc.

Students are not to be out of class for any reason without a pass or a written referral! If you see them out of class send them back to class!
